It was a classic BUCS Wednesday where our squad of 23 and cheering team made their way to Berrylands to play Reading. Having played Reading before, we were apprehensive knowing their strength from previous years. However, without doubt Kings dominated the game from start to end finishing with an astonishing result of 61-0!
The lionesses took control of the try line within the first 10 minutes, building confidence and setting the pace for the rest of the game. Already at half time we took the lead 41-0 highlighting the effort and commitment we’ve been putting in at training. With such a score gap, backs and forwards were giving some flexibility to put some training moves into practice and experiment on the field. All which paid off! Special shout out to Harriet, Ana and Lauren W who continually broke through the opposition’s defense and Fresher Daisy for scoring numerous effortless tries and securing us a bonus point! Some risky play was noticed as Kings managed to give away 6 penalties before half time but defense was strong as Reading was unable to break the defense line. The substitutions made at half time maintained the quality of play and took us to 61-0 at full time. This was a perfect boost of confidence before we take on our London rivals – UCL – on Sunday at Berrylands! Tries: Claire (1), Emma P (1), Daisy (4), Lauren W (3), Lynn (1), Liz (1) Conversions: Chloe (3) Forward of the match: Jess Back of the match: Chloe Dick of the day: Daisy Opposition’s player of the match: Harriet
