Brought to you by Bethan, our fixtures Secretary filling in as match reporter for our absent president this week! (Thanks!
"Let me start with an apology, as the writer of this played for half the game, the details are a bit hazy and thus this is more an overview than a detailed match report. It was a tense start to a tense first game of the New Year for KCLWRFC. There was some confusion over start times and player numbers, leaving 6 members of the KCL team running around Uxbridge to get to the game just as the starting whistle blew. The game started with a kick from Brunel to KCL and a missed tackle on our side unfortunately led to a try being conceded, but not converted. Not to be down for long, KCL came back with a good team try and once back into the swing of things we started to rack up the points. Unfortunately the lack of practice showed in the KCL defence, which Brunel took advantage of and scored their final try just as the whistle blew for half time. During the second half, KCL picked up the defence and began to attack with strong team work and set plays. After 10 minutes of play, a couple of KCL tries and a few Brunel injuries, Brunel asked to stop the game. Despite a convincing win, it was a shame to finish so soon but the safety of players always comes first." Tries - Harriet (2), El (2), Paz (1), Jenny Finamore (1) Sara (1 + 3 converstions) Forward of the match - Lynn Back of the match - Jenny Dick of the day - El (for teasing Anne-Julie with the ball and then scoring the try herself)
