Our last BUCS league match of the year bought us to Heston to play Imperial College, leaving with a score of 73-0!
King’s had a clear dominance from the start of the game which showed as within the first 2 minutes of play we managed to break through their defence allowing our wing Becky to make an amazing run and score a try. We kept up this momentum as only a couple of minutes later the ball was over the try line again, this time from Liz who took the ball off the scrum. Continuous support and great runs from both forwards and backs gave us a lead of 41-0 at half time. The second half took off at the same pace as the first with more tries coming from Emma H, Lauren W and Becky. Imperial were strong in the scrum but our quick and improved defence meant that every time they did win the ball, it was quickly turned over. Some of our girls had to come off because of injuries, but the huge gap in the score line meant that we could relax a little and reshuffle some of the players’ positions on the pitch (Ana at hooker, what??). Shout out to our wings Becky and Lauren who were speedy down the pitch as soon as they had the ball, most notably the penultimate try, which was then converted by Diane. After a great game we traded boots for Christmas jumpers and headed off to Winter Wonderland for a social full of mulled wine and festive cheer. Keep up the good work girls, our hard work and commitment is clearly paying off!
