On a fairly mild Sunday afternoon in November, we met with our old and familiar rivals; GKTWRFC. With the memory of last years Macadam Cup victory fresh in our minds, we were determined and ready to give our King's medics another intense and hard-fought game. And fight-hard we did; securing ourselves a kushty 36-0 win against our fellow King's ladies!
The first 40 minutes flew by, with the lionesses dominating the pitch. We flew up on attack and buckled down and stayed strong in defence, our hard work and perseverance in training clearly paying off. Scrums were particularly strong, with the forwards holding GKT back and even managing to steal a handful of their scrums! We stuck to our set plays, committed to tackles, and supported each other well, earning us an early lead. However, GKT came back with a vengeance in the second half of the game, putting a solid amount of pressure on us in the rucks and fighting hard in the scrums. There were some close calls where GKT nearly stole away, but we held our own in defense and managed a few great turnovers, with the backs following up with some great lines and making immense distance. Special shout out to backs; Marie-Lys and Reagan for their astounding runs and forwards; Emma H and Harriet for their amazing break throughs! With an incredible kick from Captain Chloe in the games final moments, and an equally impressive chase from the King's girl, we ended the game with a well deserved victory! We would like to thank the Alumni who came to support us (and even bring us treats!), and also give thanks to the girls at GKTWRFC for a great game. Tries: Afaf (1), Chloe (1), Cece (1), Paz (1), Rosie (1), Amy (1) Conversions: Chloe (3) Forward of the match: Afaf Back of the match: Reagan Opposition's player of the match: Rosie Dick of the day: Emma H (for rolling on the ground with the ball trying to make ground in the weirdest way possible)
