BOOM. Today was a pretty damn epic win in our first LUSL league match. Playing GKT (our own university's medics team) was always going to be a feisty match, especially as payback was needed for them winning by the skin of their teeth at macadam and breaking our president's arm in the process. Needless to say, revenge was taken as Lilly started off the match with the first try, taking her time to place it between the posts to make her conversion easy. Our captain became the canon ball of the match, showing incredible pace and power as she blasted through line after line of defense and eventually scoring our second try from a well timed 8-pick. The third came, again from Lilly, after some nicely set up forwards plays and offloading leading to a breaking run to the wing and a diving score. Unfortunately GKT's attempt at a try-saving tackle meant Lilly had to sit out the rest of the match, not that she was needed to improve the scoreline anymore. GKT came back fighting as they always do (they are not a team that will give up!) and pulled back another 2 tries, both of which they were unable to convert. KCLWRFC are also a team not to give up and, unsatisfied with the closeness of the scoreline, responded with another try from our captain Harriet. This was then slotted nicely through the posts by Sara. Think that's all? Hell no! We were on a roll and our next tries came in quick succession to finish out the match. The first from Alice and second from Anna (neither were converted but damn they were beautifully fought tries). SIT DOWN GKT. Well played KCL.
